Emergency & Disaster Risk Reduction Training

Date: January 06-08, 2020, Place: New Barili Covered Court


Team NBB initiated a 3 day seminar on Emergency and Risk Reduction Training, with an invited guest trainers from the Municipal Disaster & Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) namely Mr. Richard Loredo, Mr. Vincent Glenn Banse & Ms. Marifa Fe Montejo and some guest lecturers from the Bureau of Fire & Protection (BFP).

On the first day, the incumbent head of the MDRRMC, Mr. Richard Loredo gave an opening speech and introduced the office and its function to the participants. This was followed by the first lecture of Mr. Vincent who talked about first aid in general. After that, Ms. Maria Fe shared about first aid in poisoning cases and using the ways on how to use the cravat the following afternoon. For the second day, Mr. Vincent gave a lecture in victim evacuation techniques & splinting. The following afternoon, he discussed more in using the spine board, and how the emergency team work as a group and the responsibilities of each team member. Following that, guests from the BFP gave a short lecture in fire safety and fire prevention. On the last day, the trainers enlightened the participants in executing proper basic life support (BLS) with a return demo at the end.

The 3 day seminar concluded with 2 simulated patients rescued from a nearby house to be responded by the group of 2 teams from the body of participants. Although they were able to successfully bring the 2 patients back to the covered court, as the trainers verbalized, a lot of things still needed improvement, which can be addressed further in future health teachings & trainings.
